Traditional Post + Generative Production
WORKFLOW
JOURNAL / REGI ALLEN

I don’t see traditional filmmaking and generative filmmaking as opposing ideas. I use both.
The question isn’t whether something was shot, generated, animated, composited or found. The question is whether it works.
A project might begin with a finished production and need traditional editorial. Another might begin with a product photograph. Another might begin with a URL. Another might begin with nothing more than an idea.
From there, the process can move through concept development, scripting, visual development, generative production, live-action footage, editorial, sound design, graphics and finishing.
DIFFERENT TOOLS. SAME OBJECTIVE.
Make the film work.
That’s what I mean by Hybrid Editorial.
THE IDEA LEADS. EVERYTHING ELSE IS A TOOL.
The advantage isn’t replacing traditional production with AI. It’s removing the artificial boundary between production and post.
If the edit needs a shot that doesn’t exist, we can create it. If an idea needs to be visualized before production, we can build it. If existing footage already gives us exactly what we need, we use it.
The workflow adapts to the idea instead of forcing the idea into the workflow.
For me, that’s the interesting part of where filmmaking is headed. Traditional craft isn’t disappearing. It’s gaining new tools.
